The laboratory was previously sending out test requests for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. Due to increasing testing volumes, it became economical to do this test in house. Results of samples sent to Quest Laboratories were tested on the new assay on the MGC 240 analyzer. The raw data is shown in Tab 1. Perform an “Alternate (Quantitative) Method Comparison” program using EP Evaluator.
1. Before plotting, which data should be placed on the x-axis and which on the y-axis?
2. What this the linear regression equation for this data?
3. Is there a significant proportional error?
4. Is there a constant error?
5. What is the correlation coefficient (r) and is it acceptable for practice?
6. Can the reference range quoted for Quest be used for the MGC 240 analyzer? If not, the lab can either quote a new reference range or use a calculation factor based on the regression equation. What are the pros and cons for these approaches?
