Fly100% overcomes Sky's towers in PGL final
The grand final of the fourth season of PGL was a story in five parts. Mousesport's front runner Weiliang "Fly100%" Lu took the early lead, but World Elite's Xiaofeng "Sky" was quick in countering and had the Orc on the ropes numerous times. But the charismatic Orc player was able to crawl back and claim the title after a set of great moves.
The fifth and last game seemed over when Sky pushed Fly100% so hard with his tower rush that forced the Orc to retaliate and regroup to his expansion. He continued to fight the fight, and was able to level his Blademaster up to a high level enough to hold Sky back. Fly100% could then rebuild his army and reach level 6 to then see Sky admit defeat.
Fly100% wins a total of 8,500 Euros, while Sky receives 4,300 for his runner-up spot.
Game 1 @ Tidewater Glades
Early Farseer vs Archmage action was followed by an amazing surround on Sky's hero with 2 Illusions and 2 wolves, forcing Sky to use his scroll of teleport. At tier 2 Sky took the Beastmaster attempting to harass Fly's base and almost killed his bestiary, but Fly showed some great micro by doing another surround, this time on the Beastmaster, and even though Sky managed to pass his Cloak of Shadows to the 50hp hero he was revealed with a Dust of Appearance by the Tauren Chieftain and eventually killed with 1 Shockwave and 1 hit from the Farseer.
After some creeping both met each other near the goblin shop, where Fly used his Scroll of Speed early on to catch Sky's casters. Even with around 20 supply disadvantage Sky decided to take the fight. Sobi Mask and Mantle of Intelligence, plus a Mana Potion guaranteed that lots of Shockwaves will be sent, and a few Chain Lightnings helped the horde to finish the Human army. With no army left, Sky called it GG and left the game.
Game 2 @ Road to Stratholme
Sky crept his Archmage to level 3 fast and both took some mercs. Sky's plan to tower-rush Fly was slowed down when Fly surrounded the Archmage with his Blademaster at the Shop, which leaved the militia and footmen without support, giving enough time for Fly to put down two towers in his main.
Fly caught Sky while he hired a Troll Priest near the Orc's base. The Blademaster killed the Priest and hired a Mud Golem himself to slow down the Archmage. Sky's hero managed to run to the towers, but the Blademaster attacked it out of wind walk and managed to kill it and escape at under 50 hit points.
The Blademaster got another kill on the Archmage, but as he tried to get him once again around the increased number of towers, he died, which marked the end game 2, although Fly had some grunts and mercs left and an expansion.
Game 3 @ Twisted Meadows:
Cross positions secured a fast creep to level 3 for the Archmage. Sky once again attempted to tower rush, but this time he failed. Both player bought a zeppelin and Fly successfully harassed Sky's peasants with his Blademaster and four grunts, killing several of them.
At tier 2 Sky went Moutain King and expanded near his main, building towers for defense. Fly also tried to build an expand next to his base, but it was canceled two times by the Archmage and Mountain King. While Sky was teching to tier 3 Fly leveled up his Shadow Hunter and built an expand, this time in the left side of his main. Sky crept a lot with his Archmage, Mountain King and Paladin plus the Gryphons. Fly teched to tier 3 and also added a third hero - the Alchemist. From now on the players were massing Gryphons and Bat Riders, but in the final clash it was the Orc army who overcame the fight, as Fly showed excellent micro and won the game.
Game 4 @ Snow Drop
Fly went Farseer and after some early creeping he did nice surrounds on Sky, which forced the Human player back. But at tier 2 Sky took the Beastmaster and opted for a tower push, with casters for support, but the Orc player was prepared and pulled-off the situation.
Fly did nice surrounds on Sky's heroes, taking down the Beastmaster down twice and forcing the Archmage to teleport. But in the last fight Sky brought militia in help of the casters and managed to kill all Orc units plus the Farseer, which left to no choice to Fly but to type "GG" and leave the game.
Game 5 @ Death Trap
Sky opted for an early tower rush, after some creeping with his Archmage. Fly managed to kill some footmen and peasants, but that didn't stop Sky from several towers outside the Orc base. Sky retrained to Blizzard and pushed further. Even thought it seemed impossible to win, the Orc didn't give up just yet. He was unable to defend his main, but managed to take out some of his peasants and crept the near gold mine and built up a Town hall there. In the mean time he kept damaging Sky's footmen which led to a level 5 Blademaster.
After that at tier 2 Fly took the Shadow Hunter and started producing raiders and spirit walkers. He held Sky's caster and breaker army and expanded. Sky tried to build up more towers while pushing Fly, but it didn't succeeded as he was forced to step back. In the end the Blademaster got level 6, but still Fly showed great micro, forcing Sky to leave the game, which shocked most of the people, as no one could've expected that Fly will win the game after such a start.
